Product description
The protective vest serves as impact protection, was developed for equestrian sports and for people who deal with horses, and offers an extended protection area. Based on the technology used, this protective vest offers optimal protection against the consequences of an accident, significantly reduces the risk of injury, yet injuries cannot be entirely prevented. The certified protective vest absorbs impact energy to a certain extent in the event of an impact and therefore reduces the risk of injury. The protective vest generally cannot prevent an accident, and in the event of an impact, there is no 100% guarantee that fractures, sprains, abrasions, and other wounds will be prevented. Please note that no protective vest (PPE) guarantees full protection, and despite wearing a safety vest, the level of risk should be assessed for every riding activity. Injuries cannot be entirely prevented but their severity can be reduced. A protective vest cannot prevent injuries from twisting, bending, stretching, or crushing, nor injuries to the spine.
The manufacturer recommends wearing additional protective equipment for other body parts and appropriate sports clothing in addition to the protective vest, e.g., a helmet.
EN CERTIFICATION
This protective vest is classified as personal protective equipment (PPE) and complies with Regulation (EU) 2016/425 of the European Parliament and with EN 13158:2018 – Level 3 (purple label). Products of performance class 3 are subjected to the most severe tests.
There are 3 protection classes, as European Regulation 2016/425 specifies the manufacture of protective vests for different activities and end-users. No protective vest can prevent serious injuries in accidents.
Level 1/black label: Protective vests that offer a lower degree of protection and are only permitted for licensed jockeys.
Level 2/brown label: Protective vests that offer a lower than usual level of protection and are only permitted for use in low-risk situations.
These do not include riding on roads or other hard surfaces, riding over obstacles, or riding excitable young horses. Safety vests tested according to Level 2 should under no circumstances be worn by inexperienced riders.
Level 3/purple label: Protective vests that offer a level of protection considered appropriate for normal riding, for use in competitions, and for working with horses. Protective vests that comply with Level 3 offer the following protective performance:
- Prevention of minor bruises and contusions that cause stiffness and pain
- Mitigation of major soft tissue injuries to the level of bruises
- Prevention of a limited number of rib fractures
- Reduction of impact energy on the spine
The measurement within the framework of the European standard EN 13158:2018 is carried out as follows:
A flat and a rod-shaped impactor fall in free fall (impact energy 35 J for the flat impactor and 45 J for the rod-shaped impactor) onto the protector, which lies on an anvil. This anvil is connected to a measuring system that measures the remaining energy beneath the protector. This test method simulates a fall from a horse, a hoof kick, or a blow with a stick.
If a registered maximum force of max. 4 KN is given, the protective vest reaches protection class 3. No single value may exceed 6 KN. The back protector complies with the European standard EN 13158:2018, protection class 3.
Note: EN 13158:2018 includes 3 protection classes: Level 3 offers the highest protection!
BETA CERTIFICATION
This protective vest has been tested according to the BETA 2018 Horse Rider Body and Shoulder Protector Standard. Only protective vests that meet the criteria of EN 13158:2018 can be subjected to a BETA 2018 test and, if successful, may be marked with the Beta label.
The BETA standard stipulates that the protective vest must undergo an annual functional test. This guarantees stable quality and function of the protective vest.
The vest has been classified as a Level 3 protective vest, but this award is not a safety guarantee or confirmation that this vest can prevent serious injuries. With any modification, the item loses all conformity with the Beta Standard.
USE AND LIMITATION
This protective vest protects against impacts in the event of a fall from a horse (protection against impacts on hard and soft surfaces, impacts against objects such as trees, vehicles, or posts. Fallen riders are also at risk of being kicked by the horse). This protective vest offers a level of protection suitable for conventional riding, competitions, or working with horses.

USER INSTRUCTIONS/FITTING
When purchasing a protective vest, ensure you choose the correct size. The safety vest is designed to be worn as close to the body as possible, i.e., over a thin base layer. The size is correct if the vest does not feel uncomfortably tight or too loose and does not excessively impair or hinder movements in the usual riding position. The protective vest has been developed to cover the entire torso and rib cage. The upper end of the protective vest should cover the 7th cervical vertebra (known as the slightly protruding vertebra in the neck). The size of the riding protective vest is assigned the body measurements (chest circumference, waist circumference, waist/waist-over-shoulder length) listed in the following table, according to certification. The width adjustment of this protective vest is integrated, meaning the vest automatically adapts to a certain extent to the user's chest and waist circumference, as specified in EN13158:2018. Before purchasing, the protective vest should be checked for its fit. The protective bodies are integrated in the exact position within an outer fabric shell. To benefit from the full extent of the protective vest, you should ensure that the fit of the garment meets the following criteria:
- the garment should not cause discomfort when you are in your normal riding position and should under no circumstances hinder your movements.
- the protective body covers the areas that are to be protected.
Users must ensure that all equipment and fasteners are securely fastened before starting riding activities and that the protective vest fits snugly but not too tightly.
Attention: users must avoid buying a protector that is too large, as an oversized protective vest can increase the risk of falls and injuries. The protective vest is flexible in width at the sides and adapts to the rider's circumference to a certain extent.
