FAQ USG-SOS Emergency Management
-
What is USG-SOS and how does it work?
"USG-SOS" is an emergency management system for riders, where personal emergency information can be stored in a security database using an individual ID code. With the help of the ID code on a security tag or bracelet, paramedics and rescue workers can identify the injured person at the scene of the accident, view vital data on www.usg-sos.com, and notify relatives. Each rider decides for themselves if and what data they want to store, and only they can change it!
This can include:
- Name, address, age
- Contact details of relatives, doctor, stable owner
- Allergies and illnesses
- Required medications
- Existing vaccinations
- X-rays relevant to accidents
- In short: All information that is crucial for optimal care in an emergency!
-
What are the benefits of USG-SOS for me?
The good feeling that in an emergency, the right thing can be done quickly and that my family will get to me fast! With the USG-SOS emergency management, quick individual help becomes possible – and that can be life-saving. With the help of the emergency data, relatives and the stable owner can be notified – so that, for example, the horse is also well cared for. If someone is seriously injured and unconscious, contact with the treating family doctor can be crucial, because if the patient needs special medication, it can be administered quickly and in the correct dosage. Especially in cases of allergies or severe pre-existing conditions, such information can be very important.
-
How much does USG-SOS cost?
USG-SOS is a component of the multifaceted USG-security concept for riders. When purchasing a newUSG-safety vest or a USG-airbag protector, all riders receive a USG-SOS safety tag free of charge. (excluding Eco-Flexi safety vest)
Those who do not wish to purchase a new equestrian safety vest can also acquire the USG-SOS safety tag separately for an RRP of approx. €10.00. Another option to protect oneself with USG-SOS is the USG-SOS bracelet. It is available for an RRP of approx. €25.00.
-
How secure is my personal data with USG-SOS and is it really always available?
High data protection measures have been implemented to ensure that sensitive emergency data is protected from unauthorized access. The emergency data is stored on a high-security medical server located in Germany. Powerful servers in an air-conditioned environment and 24-hour technical support ensure that the emergency data can be accessed permanently. Access to www.usg-sos.com is platform-independent and can be made worldwide from any internet browser, as it is not an app. The multilingual nature of the platform helps ensure that emergency information is understood all over the world.
-
How can I use USG-SOS?
Using the ID code and PIN, each user who wishes to participate defines their personal secret password, so that only they can change the data. Anyone who enters the ID and PIN from the tag/bracelet on www.usg-sos.com can only view the information, not change it.
-
What happens if I lose my safety tag or bracelet or if it breaks?
A newly purchased medium can easily be integrated as a new medium into your existing emergency account, so that it is linked to your existing personalized emergency data. Simply select the "Carrier media new & active" tile in the main menu and then "Activate new medium". Here you can enter the ID and PIN of the new carrier medium. Please note that this new carrier medium must then still be activated with personal secret access data!
-
Where do I attach the USG-SOS tag?
Anywhere it is securely attached and clearly visible, ideally on the Velcro fastener that connects the front and back of the safety vest at shoulder height. If you want to use the USG-SOS tag to identify your horse, you can also attach the tag to the horse's halter/bridle.
-
What information do I need to provide?
Only what I want or what seems sensible to me. USG-SOS can be used completely individually: Whether I only provide the contact details of my relatives, my doctor or the stable owner, or whether I want to provide my address, vaccinations or illnesses, is entirely up to me. However, if I have an allergy or a pre-existing condition such as diabetes, this information is very helpful to rescue workers or the emergency doctor for optimal first aid and can even be life-saving.
-
Why is a USG-SOS tag attached to my new safety vest?
USG offers a proven and well-thought-out protection concept for riders: Every rider will find the right individual protective equipment here. Part of this is also USG-SOS, because quick personalized help can save lives in an emergency.
-
Can I also remove the USG-SOS safety tag?
Of course. The tag can simply be removed, and the rider will then not participate in the emergency management system. They can also participate at a later time or pass the tag on to someone else who wants to use USG-SOS.
