Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Waterford Multi-Joint Mouthpiece 16mm 14.5
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-bloods and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
Bridoon snaffles for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to check how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize the design and function of the bits. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Waterford Multi-Joint Mouthpiece 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range:
The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Waterford Multi-Joint Mouthpiece 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bridoon snaffle for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is a Waterford or multi-jointed. The bit has a mouthpiece size of 14.5 centimeters.
Bit thickness
This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for very large warmbloods.

Mouthpiece
Bridoon snaffle
The bridoon snaffle is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bridoon snaffle is usually chosen half to one cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a solid bar and the bridoon snaffle is jointed. Multi-jointed/Waterford
A multi-jointed or Waterford mouthpiece consists of a series of rounded links. It is a flexible bit that conforms to the horse's mouth and creates even pressure. It can move in all directions, making it difficult for the horse to lean on the bit, allowing the rider to maintain proper control. In soft hands, this mouthpiece is soft and kind, but with a strong hand, the bit can be sharp.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
