Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Bit with Rollers 16mm 14.5
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
Bridoon snaffles for double bridles usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The Trust Equestrian bit range provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Bit with Rollers 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Bit with Rollers 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and features smaller side pieces as a bridoon for double bridles. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed. The bit has a size of 14.5 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for very large warmbloods.
Side Piece
Mouthpiece
single-jointed
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Bit with Rollers 16mm 14.5 has a joint in the middle, which exerts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single-jointed mouthpiece is certainly the most common of all mouthpieces, alongside the double-jointed mouthpiece. Bridoon Snaffle
The bridoon is used in combination with a curb bit. It is available in single and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g., eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bridoon is usually chosen half to one cm larger than the curb bit, as the curb bit is a solid bar and the bridoon is jointed.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust develops upon contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
