The Trust Sweet Iron Bradoon Lozenge Bit Roller Bit 16mm 13.5 is made of Sweet Iron and features smaller cheekpieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed. The mouthpiece has a size of 13.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally suitable for a normal warmblood.

Bit thickness

The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the horse's lip area. This makes it a medium-thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

Bradoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical characteristics of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to check how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

Bit material

Sweet Iron

Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.

Manufacturer information

Trust Equestrian

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.

Mouthpiece

Single-jointed

A single-jointed bit has one hinge point, which exerts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single-jointed mouthpiece is the most popular mouthpiece on the market.

Cheekpiece

Bradoon

The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single- and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other bits lies in the rings (e.g., eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a whole cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a solid bar and the bradoon is jointed.
