The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Bit Straight Bar 16mm 12.5 is made of Sweet Iron and features smaller cheekpieces as a bridoon for Weymouth bridles. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar. The mouthpiece has a width of 12.5 centimeters. The 12.5cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for thoroughbreds.

Bit thickness

The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.

Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.

Bridoon bits for Weymouth bridles usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

Bit material

Sweet Iron

Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed to create surface rust when exposed to air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.

Manufacturer Information

Trust Equestrian

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and rigorously quality controlled.

Mouthpiece

Straight bar bits

A straight bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A straight bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.

Cheekpiece

Bridoon bit

The bridoon bit is used in combination with a Weymouth bridle. It is available in single and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bridoon bit is usually chosen half to one cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit has a straight bar and the bridoon bit is jointed.
