Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Snaffle Bradoon French Link Copper Plate
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point. This makes it a rather medium-strength mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
Bradoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Snaffle Bradoon French Link Copper Plate from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Snaffle Bradoon French Link Copper Plate is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is a French Link, which means an eight-shaped plate as the center piece of a double-jointed mouthpiece.

Bradoon
The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a full cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a solid bar and the bradoon is jointed. French Link
The French Link mouthpiece is a double-jointed mouthpiece with an eight-shaped plate in the middle, which exerts even pressure on the tongue. This mouthpiece is double-jointed, is more shaped to the mouth and lies somewhat looser in the horse's mouth.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits were developed in such a way that surface rust forms when they come into contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
