The Trust Equestrian bit range provides soft yet effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon French Link Mouthpiece 16mm 12.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:

The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon French Link Mouthpiece 16mm 12.5 is made of Sweet Iron and features smaller cheek pieces, like a bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar. The mouthpiece has a size of 12.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for athletic thoroughbreds.

Bit thickness

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.

Comparison values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shires horses rather 18mm and larger.

Bradoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

Bit material

Sweet Iron

Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits were developed in such a way that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.

Manufacturer information

Trust Equestrian

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are constantly being developed further by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality controlled.

Mouthpiece

Straight bar bits

A straight bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A straight bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.

Cheek piece

Bradoon

The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single-jointed and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a whole centimeter larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a straight bar and the bradoon is jointed.
