Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the greatest care and made from the best materials. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Snaffle Bradoon French Bar from the Trust Equestrian range in a little more detail:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Snaffle Bradoon French Bar is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is a bar.
Bit Thickness
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a rather medium-thick mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-bloods and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.
Bradoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits were developed in such a way that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are constantly being developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly controlled for quality.
Mouthpiece
Bar Bits
A bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Sidepiece
Bradoon
The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single-jointed and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffle bits lies in the rings (e.g., eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal snaffle bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to one cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a bar and the bradoon is jointed.
