Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Weymouth Bradoon flat mouthpiece 16mm 11.5
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. It is therefore a rather medium-thick mouthpiece.
Reference values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-bloods and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.
Bradoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The bit assortment from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Snaffle Bradoon Flat Mouthpiece 16mm 11.5 from the Trust Equestrian assortment:
The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Snaffle Bradoon Flat Mouthpiece 16mm 11.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar. The mouthpiece has a mouthpiece size of 11.5 centimeters.
Bit thickness
This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for sporty thoroughbreds.

Bradoon
The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available as single-jointed and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a whole cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit has a straight bar and the bradoon is jointed. Straight bar bits
A straight bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A straight bar mouthpiece has a sharper action than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed in such a way that surface rust develops when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
