Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Loose Ring Bradoon, Single Jointed, Locked
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a medium-strength mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
Bradoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Loose Ring Bradoon, single jointed, locked from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Loose Ring Bradoon, single jointed, locked is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it blocks when the reins are taken up.

Bradoon
The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a full centimeter larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a straight bar and the bradoon is jointed. Locked
The locked mouthpiece resembles a single jointed mouthpiece but cannot bend as much as a single jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back into a single jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that push against the hand. The locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed to develop surface rust when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
