Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Snaffle Jointed Locking 16mm 14.5
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. This makes it a moderately thick mouthpiece.
Comparison values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm, and particularly large warmbloods, cold-bloods and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.
Bradoon snaffles for double bridles usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The range of bits from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Snaffle Jointed Locking 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Snaffle Jointed Locking 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bradoon for double bridles. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it blocks when the reins are taken up. The bit has a width of 14.5 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for very large warmbloods.

Bradoon
The bradoon is used in combination with a curb bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a full cm larger than the curb bit, as the curb bit is a solid bar and the bradoon is jointed. Locked
The locked (blocking) mouthpiece is similar to a single-jointed mouthpiece but cannot bend as much as a single-jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back to a single-jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that lean on the hand. The Locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
