Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Bit Single-Jointed Blocked 16mm 12.5
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point, making it a medium-strength mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm, and particularly large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.
Bridoon bits for double bridles usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When selecting the bit strength and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
The range of bits from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Bit Single-Jointed Blocked 16mm 12.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Bit Single-Jointed Blocked 16mm 12.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bridoon for double bridles. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it blocks when rein pressure is applied. The bit has a size of 12.5 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for athletic thoroughbreds.

Bridoon
The bridoon is used in combination with a curb bit. It is available in single and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffle bits lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bridoon is usually chosen half to one cm larger than the curb bit, as the curb bit is a solid bar and the bridoon is jointed. Locked
The locked (blocking) mouthpiece resembles a single-jointed mouthpiece but cannot bend as much as a single-jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit reverts to a single-jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that lean on the hand. The locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.
