Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Weymouth Bit Snaffle Bit Single Jointed Locked 12mm 9.5
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 12 millimeters at its thickest point. This makes it a rather thin mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.
Weymouth bits for double bridles usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The bit assortment from Trust Equestrian offers soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Weymouth Bit Snaffle Bit Single Jointed Locked 12mm 9.5 from the Trust Equestrian range:

Weymouth Bit
The Weymouth bit is used in combination with a curb bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The Weymouth bit is usually chosen half to a whole cm larger than the curb bit, as the curb bit is a straight bar and the Weymouth bit is jointed. Locked
The Locked mouthpiece resembles a single-jointed mouthpiece but cannot bend as much as a single-jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back to a single-jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that lean on the hand. The Locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
