Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Loose Ring Bridoon Single-Jointed Locked 12mm 14.5
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 12 millimeters at its thickest point. This makes it a rather thin mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is typically between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-bloods, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
Bridoons for double bridles usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, consider the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bits from Trust Equestrian are selected with the greatest care and made from the best materials. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Loose Ring Bridoon Single-Jointed Locked 12mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Loose Ring Bridoon Single-Jointed Locked 12mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bridoon for double bridles. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it blocks when the reins are taken up. The mouthpiece has a mouthpiece size of 14.5 centimeters.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece size 14.5cm is usually ideal for very large warmbloods.

Bridoon
The bridoon is used in combination with a curb bit. It is available in single and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g., eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bridoon is usually chosen half to a whole cm larger than the curb bit, as the curb bit is a straight bar and the bridoon is jointed. Locked
The locked mouthpiece resembles a single-jointed mouthpiece but cannot bend as much as a single-jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back into a single-jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that push against the hand. The Locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits were developed so that surface rust forms upon contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
