Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Simple Jointed Blocking 12mm 13.5
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 12mm at its widest point, making it a rather thin mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16-18mm, ponies rather 10-14mm, thoroughbreds 12-16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shires Horses rather 18mm and larger.
Bradoons for double bridles usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
The range of bits from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Simple Jointed Blocking 12mm 13.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Simple Jointed Blocking 12mm 13.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bradoon for double bridles. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it blocks when the reins are taken up. The mouthpiece has a size of 13.5 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
This mouthpiece size is usually a good fit for a normal warmblood.

Bradoon
The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a whole cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a solid bar and the bradoon is jointed. Locked
The locked (blocking) mouthpiece resembles a single jointed mouthpiece, but cannot bend as much as a single jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back into a single jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that push against the hand. The locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
