Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Snaffle Bit single jointed locking 12mm 13
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 12 millimeters at the thickest point. It is therefore a rather thin mouthpiece.
Reference values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold bloods and Shires Horses rather 18mm and larger.
Bradoon snaffles for double bridles usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
The bit assortment from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Snaffle Bit single jointed locking 12mm 13 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Snaffle Bit single jointed locking 12mm 13 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bradoon for double bridles. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it locks when the reins are picked up. The bit has a size of 13 centimeters.
Bit thickness
This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for a normal warmblood.

Bradoon
The bradoon is used in combination with a curb bit. It is available as single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), these are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to one cm larger than the curb bit, as the curb bit is a solid bar and the bradoon is jointed. Locked
The locked mouthpiece resembles a single-jointed mouthpiece, but cannot bend as much as a single-jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back to a single-jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that lean against the hand. The locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.
