Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Water snaffle, single-jointed, locking, 12mm 12
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 12mm at its thickest point, making it a rather thin mouthpiece.
Reference values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm, and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shires Horses rather 18mm and larger.
Bridoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, consider the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test how much space there is between the tongue and palate with your fingers.
Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the greatest care and manufactured from the best materials. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Water Snaffle Bridoon, single-jointed, locking, 12mm 12 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Water Snaffle Bridoon, single-jointed, locking, 12mm 12 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bridoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it blocks when the reins are taken up. The mouthpiece has a mouthpiece size of 12 centimeters.
Bit thickness
The 12cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for Thoroughbreds.

Mouthpiece
Bridoon
The bridoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available with single-jointed and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g., eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bridoon is usually chosen half to a full cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a straight bar and the bridoon is jointed. Locked
The Locked (locking) mouthpiece is similar to a single-jointed mouthpiece but cannot bend as much as a single-jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back into a single-jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that lean against the hand. The Locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
