Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Gag Single Jointed Blocking 12mm 10
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 12mm at its widest point. This makes it a rather thin mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.
Bradoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
The Trust Equestrian Team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize the design and function of the bits. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Gag Single Jointed Blocking 12mm 10 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Gag Single Jointed Blocking 12mm 10 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it blocks when the reins are taken up. The bit has a mouthpiece size of 10 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
The 10cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for ponies.

Bradoon
The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. olive head rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a full cm larger than the Weymouth bit, because the Weymouth bit is a straight bar and the bradoon is jointed. Locked
The locked (blocking) mouthpiece resembles a single jointed mouthpiece, but cannot bend as much as a single jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back to a single jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that push against the hand. The locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed in such a way that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
