Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Weymouth Bradoon double jointed with copper rings
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest part in the area of the horse's lips. So it is rather a medium-thick mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold bloods and Shires Horses rather 18mm and larger.
Bradoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the utmost care and made from the most suitable materials. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Loose Ring Bradoon double jointed with copper rings from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Loose Ring Bradoon double jointed with copper rings is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed.

Cheek piece
Mouthpiece
double jointed
The double jointed mouthpiece is one of the most common mouthpieces on the market. This mouthpiece has two joints, is shaped more towards the mouth and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit applies pressure to the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. Be careful with narrow lower jaws! The joints can press on the bars with a narrow lower jaw. The double jointed bit applies more pressure to the tongue compared to single jointed bits. Bradoon
The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles is in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), these are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a whole cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a straight bar and the bradoon is jointed.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept the Sweet Iron bits well.
