Product description
Trust Sweet Iron Loose Ring Bridoon Double Jointed with Copper Rings 16mm 14.5
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
Bridoons for curb bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Loose Ring Bridoon Double Jointed with Copper Rings 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The bit Trust Sweet Iron Loose Ring Bridoon Double Jointed with Copper Rings 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side parts as a bridoon for curb bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed. The mouthpiece has a width of 14.5 centimeters.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece size 14.5cm is usually ideal for very large warmbloods.
Side part
Mouthpiece
double jointed
The double jointed mouthpiece is one of the most common mouthpieces on the market. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is shaped more towards the mouth and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. Be careful with narrow lower jaws! The hinge points can press on the bars, which can lead to sores. The double jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single jointed bits. Bridoon
The bridoon is used in combination with a curb bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), these are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bridoon is usually chosen half to a whole cm larger than the curb bit, as the curb bit is a straight bar and the bridoon is jointed.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed in such a way that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
