Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Loose Ring Bridoon Double Jointed with Copper Rings 16mm 12.5
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point. This makes it a medium-strength mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-bloods and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
Bridoons for curb bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize the design and function of the bits. Today we would like to present the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Loose Ring Bridoon Double Jointed with Copper Rings 16mm 12.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Loose Ring Bridoon Double Jointed with Copper Rings 16mm 12.5 is made of Sweet Iron and features smaller side pieces as a bridoon for curb bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed. The bit has a size of 12.5 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece size 12.5cm is usually ideal for Thoroughbreds.
Side Piece
Mouthpiece
Double jointed
A double jointed mouthpiece is a very common mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has two joints, is more shaped to the mouth, and sits a bit looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, bars, and corners of the mouth. This bit should not be used on horses with narrow lower jaws. The hinge points can press on the bars, which can lead to sores. The double jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single jointed bits. Bridoon
The bridoon is used in combination with a curb bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bridoon is usually chosen half to a whole cm larger than the curb bit, as the curb bit is a straight bar and the bridoon is jointed.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits were developed in such a way that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
