The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize their design and effect. Today, we'd like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Loose Ring Snaffle with Medium Bar from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Sweet Iron Loose Ring Snaffle with Medium Bar is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with loose ring snaffle cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a bar.
Bit Thickness
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the horse's commissures. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is more like 10mm to 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-bloods, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality controlled.
Mouthpiece
Bar Bits
A bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
Loose Ring Snaffle
The loose ring snaffle has two free-moving rings at each end. A movable ring means greater mobility of the bit in the mouth. The Trust Sweet Iron Loose Ring Snaffle with Medium Bar is therefore ideal for beginners and horses that are somewhat inactive in the mouth.
