Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Loose Ring Snaffle Bit with Large Rings French Link 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range:

The bit Trust Sweet Iron Loose Ring Snaffle Bit with Large Rings French Link 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and features loose ring snaffle cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a French Link, which means an eight-shaped plate as the center piece of a double-jointed mouthpiece. The mouthpiece has a width of 14.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well-suited for very large warmbloods.

Bit Thickness

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point. This makes it a medium-thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms upon contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.

Manufacturer Information

Trust Equestrian

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly controlled for quality.

Mouthpiece

French Link

The French Link mouthpiece is a double-jointed mouthpiece with an eight-shaped plate in the middle that exerts even pressure on the tongue. This double-jointed mouthpiece is more shaped to the mouth and lies somewhat looser in the horse's mouth.

Cheekpiece

Loose Ring Snaffle

The loose ring snaffle has two freely moving rings at each end. A movable ring means greater mobility of the bit in the mouth. The Trust Sweet Iron Loose Ring Snaffle Bit with Large Rings French Link 16mm 14.5 is therefore a bit for horses that prefer a more "mobile" bit in their mouth.
