The Trust Sweet Iron Loose Ring Snaffle with large elliptical rings is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with loose ring snaffle sidepieces, i.e. rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.
Reference values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits were developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
double jointed
The double jointed mouthpiece is one of the most common mouthpieces on the market. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is more shaped towards the mouth and lies somewhat looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. Caution with narrow lower jaws! The joints can press on the bars in a narrow lower jaw. Compared to a single jointed bit, this bit exerts more pressure on the tongue.
Side Piece
Loose ring snaffle
The loose ring snaffle has two freely moving rings at each end. A movable ring means greater mobility of the bit in the mouth. The Trust Sweet Iron Loose Ring Snaffle with large elliptical rings is therefore ideal for beginners and horses that are somewhat inactive in the mouth.
