The Trust Sweet Iron Loose Ring Cherry Roller Snaffle is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with loose ring cheek pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its widest point. This makes it a moderately strong mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is typically between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to check how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed to create surface rust when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Information about the manufacturer
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Single-jointed
The single-jointed mouthpiece has a hinge in the middle, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. A single-jointed mouthpiece is an absolute standard mouthpiece and very common.
Cheek piece
Loose Ring Snaffle
A loose ring characterizes a loose ring snaffle. A movable ring means greater mobility of the bit in the mouth. The Trust Sweet Iron Loose Ring Cherry Roller Snaffle is therefore a bit for horses that prefer a more "mobile" bit in their mouth.
