Bits from Trust Equestrian are selected with the greatest care and made from the best materials. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Loose Ring Single Jointed Locked from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Loose Ring Single Jointed Locked is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with loose ring side pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it locks when the reins are taken up.
Bit thickness
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is more like 10mm to 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed in such a way that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterised by innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are constantly being developed further by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Locked
The locked mouthpiece resembles a single jointed mouthpiece, but cannot bend as much as a single jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back into a single jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that push against the hand. The locked mouthpiece is also called a danger bit.
Side piece
Loose Ring
The loose ring bit has two free-running rings at each end. A movable ring means greater mobility of the bit in the mouth. The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Loose Ring Single Jointed Locked is therefore a bit for horses that prefer a more "mobile" bit in the mouth.
