The Trust Sweet Iron Loose Ring Snaffle, Double Jointed is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with loose ring snaffle cheekpieces, i.e. rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shires Horses rather 18mm and larger.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly controlled for quality.
Mouthpiece
Double jointed
Double jointed mouthpieces are suitable for many horses. This mouthpiece has two joints, is more shaped towards the mouth and lies somewhat looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, bars, and corners of the mouth. Caution with narrow lower jaws! The joints can press on the bars if the lower jaw is narrow. The double jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single jointed bits.
Cheekpiece
Loose Ring Snaffle
A freely moving ring characterizes a loose ring snaffle. A movable ring means greater mobility of the bit in the mouth. The Trust Sweet Iron Loose Ring Snaffle, Double Jointed is therefore ideal for beginners and horses that are somewhat inactive in the mouth.
