The range of bits from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Single Jointed 16mm 13.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:

The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Single Jointed 16mm 13.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller cheek pieces as a bridoon snaffle for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is single jointed. The mouthpiece has a width of 13.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for a normal warmblood.

Bit Thickness

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. This makes it a rather medium-thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

Bridoon snaffles for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed in such a way that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.

Manufacturer Information

Trust Equestrian

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are constantly being developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality controlled.

Mouthpiece

single jointed

The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Single Jointed 16mm 13.5 has a joint in the middle, which applies less pressure to the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and the sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. A single-jointed mouthpiece is an absolute standard mouthpiece and very common.

Cheek Piece

Bridoon Snaffle

The bridoon snaffle is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bridoon snaffle is usually chosen half to one cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a curb and the bridoon snaffle is jointed.
