The Trust Equestrian team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and effectiveness of their bits. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Single Jointed 16mm 12.5 from the Trust Equestrian range:

The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Single Jointed 16mm 12.5 is made of Sweet Iron and features smaller cheek pieces, as a bridoon snaffle for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is single jointed. The mouthpiece has a width of 12.5 centimeters. The 12.5cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for Thoroughbreds.

Bit Thickness

The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a rather medium-thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is typically between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

Bridoon snaffles for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When selecting bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms when they come into contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.

Manufacturer Information

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.

Mouthpiece

Single Jointed

The single jointed mouthpiece has a hinge in the middle, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double jointed mouthpiece. A single jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single jointed mouthpiece is certainly one of the most common mouthpieces, alongside the double jointed mouthpiece.

Cheek Piece

Bridoon Snaffle

The bridoon snaffle is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g., eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bridoon snaffle is usually chosen half to a full centimeter larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a curb and the bridoon snaffle is jointed.
