Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Loose Ring Snaffle Single Jointed 16mm 11.5
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest part in the horse's commissure. This makes it a moderately thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-bloods, and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
Bradoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The Trust Equestrian Team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and effectiveness of bits. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Loose Ring Snaffle Single Jointed 16mm 11.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Loose Ring Snaffle Single Jointed 16mm 11.5 is made of Sweet Iron and features smaller side pieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed. The mouthpiece has a width of 11.5 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
This mouthpiece size is generally suitable for athletic thoroughbreds.
Side Piece
Mouthpiece
single jointed
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Loose Ring Snaffle Single Jointed 16mm 11.5 has a joint in the middle, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily applies pressure to the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single-jointed mouthpiece is certainly the most common of all mouthpieces, alongside the double-jointed one. Bradoon
The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g., eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a full cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a curb bit and the bradoon is jointed.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
