The bit assortment from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Bit single jointed 12mm 12.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:

The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Bit single jointed 12mm 12.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller cheekpieces as a bridoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is single jointed. The bit has a mouthpiece size of 12.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for sporty thoroughbreds.

Bit Thickness

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 12 millimeters at its thickest point. It is therefore a rather thin mouthpiece.

In comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

Bridoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed in such a way that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.

Manufacturer Information

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality controlled.

Mouthpiece

single jointed

The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Bit single jointed 12mm 12.5 has a joint in the middle, which applies less pressure to the tongue than a double jointed mouthpiece. A single jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and the sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single jointed mouthpiece is certainly the most common of all mouthpieces, alongside the double jointed mouthpiece.

Cheekpiece

Bridoon

The bridoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bridoon is usually chosen half to a whole cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a straight bar and the bridoon is jointed.
