Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon French Link Waterford Double Jointed 16mm 12.5
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest part near the horse's lips. So it's more of a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
Bradoons for double bridles usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the greatest care and made from the most suitable materials. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Waterford Double Jointed 16mm 12.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Waterford Double Jointed 16mm 12.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bradoon for double bridles. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed. The mouthpiece has a mouthpiece size of 12.5 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for athletic thoroughbreds.
Sidepiece
Mouthpiece
double jointed
A double jointed mouthpiece is a very common mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has two joints, is shaped more towards the mouth and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. This bit should not be used on horses with narrow lower jaws. The joints can press on the bars with a narrow lower jaw. The double jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single jointed bits. Bradoon
The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), these are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a full cm larger than the Weymouth, as the Weymouth is a straight bar and the bradoon is jointed.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits were developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
