The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft yet effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Bit Double Jointed 16mm 11.5 from the Trust Equestrian range:

The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Bit Double Jointed 16mm 11.5 is made of Sweet Iron and features smaller cheekpieces as a bridoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed. The bit has a size of 11.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for athletic thoroughbreds.

Bit Thickness

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. This makes it a moderately thick mouthpiece.

Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shires Horses rather 18mm and larger.

Bridoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms when exposed to air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.

Manufacturer Information

Trust Equestrian

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.

Mouthpiece

Double Jointed

A double jointed mouthpiece is a standard mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has two joints, is more shaped towards the mouth and sits a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars, and the corners of the mouth. This bit should not be used for narrow lower jaws. The joints can press on the bars if the lower jaw is narrow. Compared to a single jointed bit, this bit exerts more pressure on the tongue.

Cheekpiece

Bridoon

The bridoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available with single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bridoon is usually chosen half to one cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit has a straight bar and the bridoon is jointed.
