Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the utmost care and manufactured from the most suitable materials. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Double Jointed 12mm 15.0 bit from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The Trust Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Double Jointed 12mm 15.0 bit is made of Sweet Iron and features smaller side pieces as a bridoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed. The bit has a width of 15 centimeters. The 15cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for very large warmbloods.
Bit thickness
The bit is 12mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a rather thin mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.
Bridoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust develops upon contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer information

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality controlled.
Mouthpiece
Double jointed
The double jointed mouthpiece is one of the most common mouthpieces on the market. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is more shaped towards the mouth and lies somewhat looser in the horse's mouth. This bit puts pressure on the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. Caution with narrow lower jaws! The hinge points can press on the bars, which can lead to sores. The double jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single jointed bits.
Side piece
Bridoon snaffle
The bridoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g., eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bridoon is usually chosen half to one cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a curb and the bridoon is jointed.
