Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Weymouth Bradoon Loose Ring Double Jointed 12mm 14.5
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 12 millimeters at its thickest point. This makes it a rather thin mouthpiece.
Reference values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm, and particularly large warmbloods, cold bloods and Shires Horses rather 18mm and larger.
Bridoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize the design and effectiveness of bits. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Weymouth Bradoon Loose Ring Double Jointed 12mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Weymouth Bradoon Loose Ring Double Jointed 12mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller cheekpieces as a bridoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed. The bit has a size of 14.5 centimeters.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece size 14.5cm is normally ideal for very large warmbloods.
Cheekpiece
Mouthpiece
double jointed
A double jointed mouthpiece is a standard mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is shaped more towards the mouth and lies somewhat looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. The bit should not be used with narrow lower jaws. The joints can press on the bars with a narrow lower jaw. Compared to a single jointed bit, this bit exerts more pressure on the tongue. Bradoon
The bridoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bridoon is usually chosen half to a full cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a straight bar and the bridoon is jointed.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
