Product description
Trust Snaffle Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Waterford Snaffle Double Jointed 12mm 13.5
The bit is 12mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a rather thin mouthpiece.
Reference values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-bloods and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.
Bradoon bits for Weymouth bridles usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The range of bits from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to present the Trust Sweet Iron Bradoon Waterford Snaffle double jointed 12mm 13.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The bit Trust Sweet Iron Bradoon Waterford Snaffle double jointed 12mm 13.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bridles. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed. The bit has a mouthpiece size of 13.5 centimetres.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece size of 13.5cm is usually ideal for smaller and normal warmbloods.
Sidepiece
Mouthpiece
Double jointed
Double jointed mouthpieces are suitable for many horses. This mouthpiece has two joints, is shaped more towards the mouth and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. Be careful with narrow lower jaws! The hinge points can press on the bars, which can lead to sores. Compared to a single jointed bit, this bit exerts more pressure on the tongue. Bradoon
The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bridle. It is available with single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to one cm larger than the Weymouth, as the Weymouth is a straight bar and the bradoon is jointed.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed in such a way that surface rust forms when they come into contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
