Product description
Trust Snaffle Bit Sweet Iron Weymouth Bradoon double jointed 12mm 12.5
The bit is 12mm thick, measured at the thickest part in the horse's labial area. It is therefore a rather thin mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and especially large warmbloods, cold bloods and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.
Bradoons for Weymouths usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and function of the bits. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust bit Sweet Iron Bradoon double jointed 12mm 12.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The bit Trust Snaffle Bit Sweet Iron Weymouth Bradoon double jointed 12mm 12.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bradoon for Weymouths. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed. The bit has a size of 12.5 centimeters.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece size 12.5cm is usually ideal for thoroughbreds.
Sidepiece
Mouthpiece
double jointed
Double jointed mouthpieces are suitable for many horses. This mouthpiece has two joints, is shaped more towards the mouth and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, bars and corners of the mouth. The bit should not be used on narrow lower jaws. The joints can press on the bars if the lower jaw is narrow. The double jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single jointed bits. Bradoon
The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), these are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a full cm larger than the Weymouth, as the Weymouth is a curb bit and the bradoon is jointed.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits were developed in such a way that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.
