Product description

Trust Sweet Iron Bradoon Olive Head Single-Jointed 16mm 11.5

The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a rather medium-strength mouthpiece.

Reference values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shires Horses rather 18mm and larger.

Bradoons for Weymouth bridles usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical characteristics of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

The Trust Equestrian Team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize the design and function of the bits. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Bradoon Olive Head Single-Jointed 16mm 11.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:

The Trust Sweet Iron Bradoon Olive Head Single-Jointed 16mm 11.5 bit is made of Sweet Iron and features smaller side pieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bridles. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed. The bit has a mouthpiece size of 11.5 centimeters.

Bit Thickness

This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for athletic thoroughbreds.

Sidepiece

Mouthpiece

single-jointed

The Trust Sweet Iron Bradoon Olive Head Single-Jointed 16mm 11.5 has a joint in the middle, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and the sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single-jointed mouthpiece is certainly the most common of all mouthpieces, alongside the double-jointed one. Bradoon

The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g., olive head rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a full cm larger than the Weymouth, as the Weymouth is a solid bar and the bradoon is jointed.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms when they come into contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
