Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the utmost care and manufactured from the best materials. Today, we would like to present the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Olive Head Single-Jointed 12mm 13.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:

The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Olive Head Single-Jointed 12mm 13.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller cheekpieces as a bridoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed. The mouthpiece has a size of 13.5 centimeters. The 13.5cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for smaller and normal warmbloods.

Bit thickness

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 12mm at its thickest point, making it a rather thin mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

Bridoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

Bit material

Sweet Iron

Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.

Manufacturer information

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.

Mouthpiece

single-jointed

The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Olive Head Single-Jointed 12mm 13.5 has a joint in the middle, which applies less pressure to the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single-jointed mouthpiece is the most popular mouthpiece on the market.

Cheekpiece

Bridoon

The bridoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g., olive head rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bridoon is usually chosen half to a full cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a curb and the bridoon is jointed.
