Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the greatest care and manufactured from the most suitable materials. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Bit with Eggbutt Single-Jointed 12mm 13.0 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:

The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Bit with Eggbutt Single-Jointed 12mm 13.0 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller cheekpieces as a bridoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed. The mouthpiece has a size of 13 centimeters. The 13cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for smaller and normal warmbloods.

Bit thickness

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 12 millimeters at its thickest point. This makes it a rather thin mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is more like 10mm to 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

Bridoon bits for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

Bit material

Sweet Iron

Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.

Manufacturer information

Mouthpiece

single-jointed

The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Snaffle Bit with Eggbutt Single-Jointed 12mm 13.0 has a joint in the middle, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single-jointed mouthpiece is the most popular mouthpiece on the market.

Cheekpiece

Bridoon

The bridoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffle bits lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bridoon is usually chosen half to one cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a curb and the bridoon is jointed.
