Product description
Trust Sweet Iron Bradoon Olive Head Double Jointed
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point. So it is a rather medium-strength mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
Bradoons for Weymouth bits are usually 12mm to 14mm thick.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The Trust Equestrian team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize the design and function of the bits. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Bradoon Olive Head Double Jointed bit from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Sweet Iron Bradoon Olive Head Double Jointed bit is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed.

Cheekpiece
Mouthpiece
double jointed
Double jointed mouthpieces are suitable for many horses. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is shaped more towards the mouth and lies somewhat looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. Be careful with narrow lower jaws! The joints can press on the bars in a narrow lower jaw. The double jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single jointed bits. Bradoon
The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. olive head rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a whole cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a curb and the bradoon is jointed.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
