Product description

Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Olive Head Double Jointed 16mm 14.5

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point. This makes it a medium-thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold bloods, and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

Bradoons for Weymouths usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

The bit assortment from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Olive Head Double Jointed 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian assortment in more detail today:

The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Olive Head Double Jointed 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bradoon for Weymouths. The mouthpiece of this bit is double-jointed. The mouthpiece has a width of 14.5 centimeters.

Bit Thickness

The mouthpiece size 14.5cm is usually ideal for very large warmbloods.

Side Piece

Mouthpiece

Double Jointed

A double-jointed mouthpiece is a very common mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has two joints, is more shaped towards the mouth, and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars, and the corners of the mouth. This bit should not be used with narrow lower jaws. The hinge points can press on the bars, which can lead to sores. The double-jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single-jointed bits. Bradoon

The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth. It is available in single and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g., olive head rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a whole cm larger than the Weymouth, as the Weymouth is a curb bit and the bradoon is jointed.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits were developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
