Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the greatest care and made from the most suitable materials. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Olive Head Double Jointed 12mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:

The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Olive Head Double Jointed 12mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bridoon for Weymouth bridles. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed. The bit has a mouthpiece size of 14.5 centimeters. The mouthpiece size of 14.5cm is usually ideal for very large warmbloods.

Bit thickness

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 12mm at its thickest point. So it is rather a thin mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

Bridoons for Weymouth bridles usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

Bit material

Sweet Iron

Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits were developed in such a way that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.

Manufacturer information

Trust Equestrian

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are constantly being developed further by Trust's technical teams and strictly controlled for quality.

Mouthpiece

double jointed

A double-jointed mouthpiece is a very common mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is shaped more towards the mouth and sits a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. Be careful with narrow lower jaws! The joints can press on the bars in a narrow lower jaw. Compared to a single-jointed bit, this bit exerts more pressure on the tongue.

Side piece

Bridoon

The bridoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. olive head rings), these are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bridoon is usually chosen half to a full cm larger than the Weymouth, as the Weymouth is a straight bar and the bridoon is jointed.
