The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Olive Head Double Broken 12mm 13.0 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller cheekpieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is double broken. The mouthpiece has a width of 13 centimeters. The 13cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for smaller and normal warmbloods.

Bit Thickness

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 12 millimeters at its thickest point. So it is a rather thin mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

Bradoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to check how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.

Manufacturer Information

Trust Equestrian

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality controlled.

Mouthpiece

double broken

A double broken mouthpiece is a very common mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is shaped more towards the mouth and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. Caution with narrow lower jaws! The hinge points can press on the bars, which can lead to sores. Compared to a single broken bit, this bit exerts more pressure on the tongue.

Cheekpiece

Bradoon

The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double broken mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. olive head rings), these are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a whole cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a solid bar and the bradoon is broken.
