The Trust Sweet Iron Swivel Waterford Link Mouthpiece bit is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Universal rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is a Waterford or multi-linked mouthpiece.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point. This makes it a rather medium-thick mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

A multi-linked or Waterford mouthpiece consists of a series of rounded links. It is a flexible bit that conforms to the horse's mouth and creates even pressure. It can move in all directions, making it difficult for the horse to lean on the bit, allowing the rider to maintain proper control. In soft hands, this mouthpiece is soft and gentle, but with a strong hand, the bit can be sharp.
Cheekpiece
Universal/Swivel
The Universal bit, also called Beval or Swivel, usually has rings as cheekpieces, with internal eyelets at the top and bottom. These allow for additional buckling of cheekpieces and reins, which makes the bit very flexible. With the Beval, the mouthpiece is attached to a central axis of the ring.
