Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the utmost care and manufactured from the most suitable materials. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Swivel Single Jointed Locking from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Swivel Single Jointed Locking is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Universal rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it blocks when the reins are taken up.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.
Reference values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm, and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed and strictly quality-controlled by Trust's technical teams.
Mouthpiece
Locked
The Locked (blocking) mouthpiece resembles a single jointed mouthpiece but cannot bend as much as a single jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back to a single jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that lean against the hand. The Locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Cheek Piece
Universal/Swivel
The Universal bit, also called Beval or Swivel, usually has rings as cheek pieces, with internal eyelets at the top and bottom. These allow for additional attachment of cheekpieces and reins, making the bit very flexible. On the Beval, the mouthpiece is attached to a central axis of the ring.
