The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Swivel bit, single jointed, locked, 16mm, 12.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Sweet Iron Swivel bit, single jointed, locked, 16mm, 12.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Universal rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it locks when rein pressure is applied. The mouthpiece has a size of 12.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for sporty thoroughbreds.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point. This makes it a medium-strength mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shires Horses rather 18mm and larger.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates salivation. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Locked
The locked mouthpiece resembles a single-jointed mouthpiece but cannot bend as much as a single-jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit returns to being a single-jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that lean on the hand. The locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Cheekpiece
Universal/Swivel
The Universal bit, also called Beval or Swivel, usually has rings as cheekpieces, with internal eyes at the top and bottom. These allow for additional attachment of cheekpieces and reins, making the bit very flexible. With the Beval, the mouthpiece is attached to a central axis of the ring.
