The Trust Equestrian Team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize the design and function of the bits. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Full Cheek Bit medium bar 16mm 13.5 from the Trust Equestrian range:
The Trust Sweet Iron Full Cheek Bit medium bar 16mm 13.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with shanks or cheeks as side pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a bar. The mouthpiece has a width of 13.5 centimeters. The mouthpiece size of 13.5cm is usually ideal for smaller and normal warmbloods.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, consider the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed to develop surface rust when they come into contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Bar Bits
A bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Side piece
Full Cheek Snaffle Bits
The full cheek snaffle lies very quietly and stably in the mouth. It ensures reliable lateral guidance without the risk of pinching skin and lips due to the angled shanks. This bit is suitable for horses that need clear lateral support and guidance when turning.
