The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize the design and function of their bits. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Full Cheek Straight Bar 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Full Cheek Straight Bar 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with full cheeks or snaffles as side pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar. The mouthpiece has a width of 14.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well-suited for very large warmbloods.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point. It is therefore a rather medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been designed so that surface rust develops upon contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Straight bar bits
A straight bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A straight bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Side piece
Full cheek bits
The full cheek bit lies very quietly and stably in the mouth. It ensures reliable lateral guidance without the risk of pinching skin and lips due to the angled shanks. This bit is suitable for horses that need clear lateral support and guidance when turning.
